Websites are often subject to the treat of attack and over recent days there has been a very public internet hack.
The victim of the attack is an online dating website, albeit no ordinary internet dating website. Ashley Madison (the website in question) targets married people seeking an affair.
The company strapline is ‘Life is short, have an affair’. It is believed that the motive of the hackers or hacker is for the site to be removed, having been angered by their ‘full delete’ service which promises to remove all of the individual’s personal data but this itself incurs a £19 fee, an amount thought to have bagged Ashley Madison millions of pounds a year.
Although we don’t have any clients of this nature, at Entyce we take site security extremely seriously. We make sure all passwords are secure and regularly updated.
As well as keeping clients sites secure we make sure that we take regular backups, so if your site was to be subject of an attack we would have a recent copy and would be able to get you back up and running again as soon as possible.
