Coca-Cola has become the first brand to have their own emoji on Twitter. The emoji, which is of two Coke bottles clinking together, automatically appears in any tweet posted which includes the hashtag #ShareACoke.
Between 12 am (ET) on 17th Sept and 12am (ET) on 18th Sept #ShareACoke recorded more than 170,500 mentions globally, resulting in Coke setting a world record for the ‘World’s Largest Cheers’.
According to Twitter’s Senior Director of Brand Strategy, Ross Hoffman, Coke was selected for the trial because it was a ‘perfect opportunity to work with a nimble and smart marketer to make this happen’.
Which brand do you think will be next? We predict it’s only a matter of time before that oh so familiar yellow M starts appearing on our Twitter feeds with the hashtag #ImLovingIt.
