Google announced earlier this year that they would update the URL tracking method from destination URL to final URL. The new upgrade has been instigated to bring in better usability and faster URL management. As of the 1st July, all Adword advertisers will need to start using the upgraded URL principle.
The final URL is simply the web address of your landing page, where people go when they click your ad. Your final URL can include redirects, but its domain must match the domain of your display URL.
For example
Say your display URL is www.entyce-creative.com
Acceptable final URLs could be:
- https://entyce-creative.com/offers
Not acceptable final URLs would be:
To prevent ad disapproval, make sure the domain names of your display URL and final URL match.
Google have a very useful guide to those who have not yet updated their URL tracking.
